My Interpretation of 4D Space

The 4th dimension is not a new concept. Ever since the 1700’s scientists and artists have worked together to predict what it would look like if humans figure out how to fold into different dimensions. Even a lot of Picasso’s work has to do with his interpretations of 4D space. Today though, the general consensus most artists share in regards to 4D space is that it’s some Joe Rogan DMT fused psychedelic trip. Sure this conceptual art usually looks cool, but it has no basis in reality. I’m here to propose a different theory, this is what “My Interpretation of 4D Space” looks like, allow me to explain myself.

 

When we look at a 2D object like a painting, for example, we see the whole thing in its entirety because we are in the 3D. But what happens if we were in the same 2D space as the painting?  We would only see a certain aspect of the whole depending on where we are located in the space. See my diagram below. Looking at the piece of paper we see a stick man and a circle. But if we pretend we are the stick person what do we see? Not a circle, but rather just a curved vertical line. It would be impossible for the stick person to ever see the circle because he can’t access the Z-plane to move either in front or behind the circle to see the whole thing, he’s stuck on the X-Y plane. Therefore, it leads me to assume that in 4D space we will be able to see everything that makes up the 3rd Dimension, in the same way, that we 3D beings can see everything in a 2nd dimension. In the 4th dimension, we will be skinny dipping in space and we will be able to touch stars that used to be thousands of light-years away, it will be beautiful.  

This may seem like nonsense now, but in 50 or 500 years whenever we discover how to fold and unfold space-time like Einstein predicted I can’t wait to give y’all a fat I TOLD YA SO.

So, for the second time, [The Pharisees] summoned the man who had been blind and said:

I’ve never read the bible before but I like that quote. Thank you Martin Scorsese for enlightening me.

Impermanence / Monumentality

So I know I talk a lot of shit about what we’ve done for the environment because mother earth has given us so much over the years, the least we can do is ensure her survival a little while longer. But I feel like it’s worth noting that we’ve given mother earth quite a bit too. Without life, the earth would be nothing but a giant rock floating through the abyss, like a plastic bottle swimming through the ocean. As much as we need water to survive, water needs us as well. I’m no scientist so bear with me,  I do know (or so I’ve been told) that if there was no life on earth the radiation from the sun would eventually turn all water into carbon dioxide which would make the earth nothing but a frozen desert. The only reason the earth is so special in the first place is that it has so much water which made it possible for life to grow. But, if life never grew to soak up the sun’s energy there would be no water. So, in a theoretical world where there was no life on earth, but aliens flying all over the solar system, they probably wouldn’t even bat an eye at earth, the same way we wouldn’t if we see a plastic bottle floating off in the distance of the ocean. This means to me at the very least, our being puts the message in the bottle, if you catch my drift.

Lost in Translation

Oh Just me practicing my people sketching skills while flexing my color theory. Definitely doesn’t have any deeper meanings about how much I dislike my phone. Each of the “scenes” are from a specific frame of a movie. I couldn’t think of what to put in the middle until I decided it’d be cool to have someone watching all the movies to make it some Movieception thing. But, there was no way I was going to draw the people again so I decided on trying out some cubism technique and I’d say it worked out pretty well

Some of the movies are pretty famous, others not so much. This may take hours or it may take years, we’ll see.
